“Every thought we think is creating our future” Louise Hay

Welcome to my Soul Blog! I’m really excited (and a little bit nervous) to be sharing some of my story with you all. These are my own thoughts, experiences, beliefs and opinions and I encourage you to find the things that connect and resonate with you and then create your very own unique way to practice Self-Care daily to nourish your soul and bring you inner peace, balance and joy into your life.
Many of us learn best from experience. This is why I have decided to write a blog and about my recent challenges and the tools that helped me. I started writing this back in February 2017 in the midst of my little soul awakening when I felt completely lost but it’s taken me this long to have the courage to share parts of it and even work out exactly where I was going with my life! (and trust me, it is still a work in progress!) My story is about my journey back to self-care and how it helped me heal and totally transform my life.

What does Self-Care mean to me?
I resisted the term self-care for so long. My belief was that taking taking care of my own needs was selfish when I had two kids, a husband, pets, house hold and business to run. I understand now how the thing I resisted the most was the thing I so desperately needed. Before starting a family self-care was a priority for me. I struggled with self-esteem issues and being overweight as a child and early teen led me down the path of learning the importance of making a healthy lifestyle. A way of life which nourished mind, body and soul. I didn’t realise how vitally important this was until just recently.
Self-care for me means taking time each day to nourish my mind, body and soul.
Taking care of my physical health and body by eating well and taking a daily walk.
Taking care of my emotions– actually letting myself express my emotions healthily rather than supressing them and setting healthy boundaries to protect my energy.
Taking care of my mind and thoughts- challenging negative fear based thoughts and beliefs that kept me stuck on a hamster wheel of unhealthy self sabotage.
Taking care of my spiritual health and doing things that light up my soul- things like sitting out in nature, connecting with myself and my intuition regularly, meditation, angel cards and expressing gratitude for everything, good and bad, in my life.
If we don’t take time to replenish and nurture all of those parts of ourselves, life gets out of alignment and things are harder than they need to be. Make it a priority, and you will absolutely find the time.

I’m all for making life EASIER now and actually taking time for my life! I had been pushing through the burn out barrier for years without listening to the signs my body was giving me. 18 months ago the universe finally made me stop and pay attention to how I was living my life. This has led to me make some really big changes both personally and professionally and create a much more simplistic but meaningful life and brand that nourishes the whole of us. I want to share with you what I have learnt particularly over the past year and a half that has completely changed my world for the better. I feel like it’s my duty to share the knowledge I have gained. I know how much information is out there and how overwhelming it is- and sometimes you just don’t even know what it is you need. I’ve been there! So I hope that what I will be sharing with you over the coming posts and beyond will help.

My hope is to empower you to TAKE BACK YOUR POWER and take charge of your life. Rewriting those subconscious patterns was life changing for me.
I’m passionate about being mindful of the thoughts we think and using daily positive affirmations to rewrite our subconscious mind. Changing my own thinking and using affirmations has played a huge part in creating a more balanced, connected and graceful life which is why I decided to re-brand Rustic Hyde to incorporate these powerful statements. Our thoughts are so much more powerful than we realise and as Louise Hay says, “every thought we think is creating our future”. Rustic Hyde has always been more than just a skincare brand but the new Rustic Hyde empowers you to shine from the inside out, practice holistic self-care daily, transform your thinking and love the skin you’re in. It’s pure mind, body & soul nourishment. I hope through reading some of this you can develop a better connection with yourself, begin to practice self-care and self-love guilt free and most importantly take time for your life!

My journey and some tips and tools I have learnt along the way will be covered in a series of blog posts. I broke it down so it didn’t feel like you were reading a novel! I know how busy our lives are and how precious our time is. I hope to make this blog a regular and important part of RH moving forward which will include lots more soul nourishing posts about self care, self love and the tools that really helped transform me from the inside out. I hope this information can help you no matter where you are on your journey.

Love and Light,
Peta xx
