05 Sep Why Use A Clay Mask On Your Face?
TWO WORDS FOR YOU – ‘RELAX’ AND ‘REJUVENATE’
Who doesn’t love the relaxation of a facial, not to mention how good your skin feels! OMG take me away!
Unfortunately life really does just seem to get in the way and a professional facial just isn’t always possible so… DIY! Yes – do it yourself! OMG – timesaver!!
A good clay mask can soothe, cleanse and moisturize tired dull skin – and the ritual of applying and enforced relaxation whilst it’s on (think reading book, catching up on newspaper, 10 minute meditation or mindfulness!) is soooo good for the soul.
There’s our key take away for face masks – Relax and Rejuvenate. But if you need more here goes…
Clay masks* can absorb oils and help to control shine. If you have acne prone skin you may already be familiar with the benefits of using a clay mask as they can help to draw out impurities.
Clay masks are an easy skin care option if you are looking to deep cleanse your skin – and the bonus is you can do this regularly at home. And it doesn’t take long to have that just out of the ‘day spa’ feel about your skin.
Our tips for relaxing with our Rustic Hyde Rosalina Detox Clay Mask are:
- Light your favourite candle – the one you really love the relaxing smell of
- Send everyone out so you are home alone (if not possible escape to a room you like! Or have everyone do a mask with you – and send us the photos!)
- Wash & pat dry your face – removing any make-up
- Apply clay mask to your face with your fingers, being careful to avoid the super-delicate skin around your eyes
- Relax – leave it on for up to 10 minutes – read a book, lie down, listen to your fave song or squeeze in 10 minutes of meditation or mindfulness. Bliss!
- Once the mask is starting to harden wash it off – use a soft cloth, wash warm water on your face, jump in the ashower – whichever is ‘you’
- Finish your routine with hydration mist (link to RH product) and moisturizer (link to RH antiox) then you are good to go and your skin should be feeling refreshed and revitalized – maybe even glowing!

If you haven’t thought of it already – this is a fun ‘girls night in’ activity – byo fluffy robe 😉
Or it could be something you add to your weekly routine by simply putting it on, making your bed or getting a few chores (yawn) done then jumping in the shower to get ready for the day. Whatever works for you.

*Overall – Clay masks are believed to have a low incidence of side effects, however if you are one of the rare people who develop slight redness or mild irritation after use this usually fades within 24 hours. Discontinue use if you are concerned at all when first trialing any mask or in fact any product on your face/skin.
